Winning sure is in $tyle! Dodgy $tyle earned their third red shirt over the perennial powerhouse, 5 time champs the Decepticons in the Spring 2010 end of season Dodgeball tournament! Congratulations to Dodgy $tyle a great team on and off the court! We’ll see you in the fall!

In what was the most exciting No Sting match to date, the no. 1 and no. 2 seeds faced off in the finals of the No Sting tournament. The games went 3-3 and Entourage dominated the neutral zone to finish off the favored Prestige Worldwide to notch their spot in the hall of fame! Congratulations, Entourage!

Can you believe the end of season tournament is this Saturday?! My how this season has flown by! Tonight are the last regular season games before the tournament on Saturday. ALL teams make the end of season tournament! The bracket is available here. An updated version with teams on it will be completed tomorrow morning. As usual, after the tournament we have an end of season party (see attached flyer). If your are unable to play in the end of season tournament please ASAP.

Captains will need to pick up team packets at the tournament on Saturday for the wristbands to enter the party.  All registered players receive a wristband to enter the party and enjoy free beer (Thank you to Coors Light, Sierra Nevada and Mike’s Hard Lemonade!), fiesta-like food, Dj and awards. Additional wristbands may be purchased for family and friends $10 each at the tournament or the door of the party.

Have you wanted to try out dodgeball but didn’t know anyone? This is your perfect opportunity. Each summer, Recesstime Dodgeball is Draft League Dodgeball! This means everyone signs up as an individual and are drafted onto teams by volunteer player captains. The teams are evenly distributed with talent so the games are fun! It’s anyone’s game!

Prestige Worldwide entertained the No Sting league both on and off the court at Mc Peet’s (wanna hunt some Big Buck?) this past season but the tournament would be prove to be their best stage yet! Heading into the tournament the Reignmakers looked to be unbeatable. With a perfect record and a +57 game differential, this team looked as though they had the finals locked before the first whistle of the night. Both teams dominated in the early rounds and easily sailed into the championship match. The Reignmakers handed Prestige Worldwide their only loss of the season back in week four. The sting of that loss must have really fueled the PW Fury because they came out strong in the finals, knocking out the #1 seed 4-2 to earn the winter 2010 red shirts. Congratulations Prestige Worldwide on your Spring 2010 championship!

Recesstime is helping Sellwood Middle School Foundation host a dodgeball fundraiser this Friday night (March 5th) from 6:30-8:30.

$5 at the door will give you two hours of dodgeball and Pizzicato pizza! Your five bones goes to a good cause supporting kids in Portland schools! Last year the funds the Sellwood Foundation raised went directly into funding our P.E. program, which promotes healthy lifelong sports such as dodgeball. 
 
We will have three courts running if you have kids you can bring them and we’ll have games for all ages and ability. Kids must be accompanied by a parent!

Come try out our newest dodgeball game. We may even bring some classic balls and conduct some fun dodgeball experiments. We’ll try out new rules, ways to play and end the game plus some fun challenges – think king/queen of the court!

Saturday’s tournament was filled with some stellar dodging, catching and cheering! There were some surprising upsets, including an early knock out of the Spring champs, Dodgedamnit! by AM: 5150. Extravadanza beat the fall favorite, Decepticons 4-2. The Decepticons had won each of the previous four fall dodgeball tournaments (dating back to when we were the Portland Co-ed Adult Dodgeball League!). Another notable early upset, the Dodgeball Furies beat two time champions, the Ligers in their first match of the tournament!

In the end Dodgy $tyle matched up against Extravadanza in an exciting catch/out filled final and beat Danza 4-2 to claim their second Recesstime Red Shirt victory and secured a second $ on the Kennedy Cup (this time they even held on to the cup through the entire night at the Ponderosa!). Thank you to our friends at MillerCoors for our delicious post tournament libations and to the Ponderosa for hosting a memorable dodgeball tournament after party!

Entourage cruised their way into the semi-final game with Tanked and Bombed only to be handed their only loss of the season. They faced off again and Entourage beat T & B in four straight games. Congratulations to Spud and her Entourage team for winning the Fall 2009 No Sting championships!
