DODGBALL FAQ
WHAT IS DODGEBALL?
Well, either you are one of the lucky ones who wasn't forced into this life defining P.E. experience or you were born after 1985 in which case it was already banned from schools to save your self esteem.
Dodgeball, (bombardment, war ball, prison ball, etc) is a game that is mostly played in physical education classes in elementary school. Two teams of equal size face off in gym, armed with red rubber balls. Players try to eliminate the other team by throwing the balls at their opponents. Players are called out if hit with the ball and are banished to the out line. The team who eliminates their opponents first is the winner. WHO PLAYS RECESSTIME PORTLAND DODGEBALL?
We're a thriving group of players in Portland, Oregon who love doDgeball and want to spread the resurgence of our childhood passion with anyone who wants to share a court. We are of various ages (all over 21), professions, backgrounds and playing ability. We all share the love of dodgeball and good (and free) beer.
WHERE DO YOU PLAY?
We play at various gyms around the Portland metro area.
WHEN CAN I REGISTER?
Registration opens approximately six weeks before the season starts.
I THINK I WANT TO HAVE MY OWN TEAM…HOW CAN I DO THIS?
Go to the registration page and click create a new team. You will create a team code to send to your teammates. They will sign up under your team name and you will be notified. You may also check your roster and players contact information by logging into the registration page to view your team.
HOW MANY PLAYERS ON A TEAM?
Typically, teams range in size from about 10-14 players. Teams play 8 v 8 so you want to make sure that you'll have subs available. If you need help with extra players, we always have free agents looking to join a team! Teams are capped at 14 players. Check out our Facebook page to recruit a free agent!
END OF SEASON PARTY?
Yep! On the last day of the season, we will have our end of season tournament to determine the season champion. That night we pick up the tab for beer and food while you and your teammates celebrate victory or wallow in the agony of defeat.
WHAT'S THE DRAFT LEAGUE ALL ABOUT?
Everybody signs up as an individual and players are drafted onto teams in a confidential draft. It's a fun dodgeball format where teams are be evenly balanced and include players of all skill levels and experience.
WHAT IF MY TEAM ISN’T SUPER COMPETITIVE?
Recesstime is open to all skill levels! We don’t think your dodgeball skills should dictate where you socialize. There's a place for everyone to play!
HOW DO I REGISTER?
Have team? Need a team? We can accommodate both! You can just set up your own team and give your friends a secret code to register (all that info here on the registration page). If you just want to join a team, you can register under that team name or as a free agent.
